Hats in the Belfry is a small hat reseller, with 90% of their hat styles exclusive to Hats In The Belfry. Our hats are found nowhere else in the world.
Project Overview
During my tenure at Smart Solutions, I was responsible for the entire Hats in the Belfry project, both as a BA/SA as well as a PM.
This was a pre-existing project when I joined Smart Solutions, and was their client under a maintenance project for a Magento site for 2 years.
This project eventually switched to a migration support project, as they switched away from Magento into a lower cost Shopify environment better suited for their business needs.
Example Services I Provided
- Primary PM: All standard PM-based responsibilities, such as billing, reports, meetings, task assignments, scheduling, QA/Testing, and related. As a small client with minimal internal staff experience, this client required all standard PM-related support and training services during the 2 years I worked with them.
- Secondary PM: Later in my tenure the PM of this smaller client was passed to a different PM, and I provided secondary backup PM services, supporting the primary PM where needed.
- BA/SA: Entry-level BA/SA services were utilized throughout the years with this client. While a small client, they had multiple ERP systems over the time I worked with them, and helping them integrate these systems and keep them working correctly was one of their unique challenges.
- Integration Support: This project has base levels of system integrations that are expected from mid-sized Magento clients, such as an integration with an old version of Retail Pro, inventory, ordering and pricing integrations and other common systems. I handled supporting integration enhancements, requirements gathering, solution architecting, PM management for integration, design of customization needs, extension installs and related services.
- SEO Various Support and enhancement topics: such as core web vital score improvements, backlink/301 audit support, speed optimization support, integrations with GA/GTM, integrations with Google Merchant Shopping channels, managing the search console, CRUX reports and more.
- QA/Testing & Related: Any changes, updates, security patches, enhancements, deployments, and related needs to be done and tested carefully to ensure site stability. As a BA, part of my responsibilities was creating and supporting test plans, as well as from a PM standpoint managing the execution and review of the plans.
- Data Migration, Data Enhancement & Optimization: The original rescue site had especially poorly managed data, and helping the client fix and enhance his data was an especially large portion of the development project compared to most other projects.
- Magento to Shopify Migration Support: The client eventually chose to move out of Magento into a lower-cost Shopify environment to better suit their business size and needs, and I provided support to the PM and agency during that transition period to help it go as smoothly as possible.
