Cloverdale Paint was founded 90 years ago by founders who believed that to be successful, the company needed to provide an exceptional level of service and high quality products to satisfy customer expectations. This philosophy is part of our culture and it is one of the keys to our success today. We are proud of our heritage and we are proud to be the largest privately owned and family run coatings company in Canada. We are equally excited about our future and we will continue to provide exceptional service and high quality products that have made us a third generation, Canadian owned success story.

Project Summary

While I worked at Graphically Speaking I was involved primarily as a BA/SA for multiple projects for the Cloverdale Paint company.

The entire public site is a Progress Sitefinity standard website, and there are various custom applications that were developed that exist within the website.

Example Projects:

  • Full website development
  • Public Product Catalog & MSDS/TDS/SDS System
  • Private customer product SDS lookup system

One example of a custom application done for this project is a private custom product catalog available for customers to access to find their product safety data sheets through quick search systems. A simplified version of that can be viewed publicly (see the link above)

In addition to that public system, there was a more advanced data sheet system where B2B customers would be able to login and lookup past orders for specific profile details of any order they did in the past.

Customers looking up past orders could have PDF’s instantly generated containing the unique SDS related to their custom product orders and custom paint mixes.

As an example, Cloverdale paint does custom paint mixes for unique business needs.  A customer painting an outdoor concrete surface may have a very different mix than a different customer painting over a metal substrate.  Cloverdale Paint is required to maintain safety data sheets (SDS) for each of these custom mixes, and had a private application built to permit customers to login and see the exact specifics for orders they had made in the past.  The web side had a custom application connecting to very large databases of historic orders at one time.

Services Provided

  • BA/SA:  All standard business analyst-related skills were utilized throughout the few years I worked with this client.  Helping design the applications from the ground up, integrations, gather requirements, wireframe development of all interfaces, UI/UX design, and more were done across the entire project base.  Every interface in the system was designed by me.
  • QA/Testing & Related:  As such all topics related to QA were of high importance for these projects.  I helped create test plans, deployment planning, process planning, workflows for delivery and related services.
  • PM:  I was mostly a secondary PM during various phases of the project, from initial sales standpoints through full development and delivery.  I provided support to the primary PM throughout the years we worked with this client, and all standard PM-based responsibilities were provided, such as billing, reports, meetings, task assignments, scheduling, QA/Testing, budgeting, quoting and all related services.
  • Dev PM:  All standard development PM related responsibilities, such as scheduling development, working with the programmers, handling sprints, communicating requirements and more were often handled by me throughout the entire project cycles, especially on any areas of high technical complexities.
