Bezdan is The Dependable Choice for Architectural Railings. Since 1960.

Project Overview

While working for Graphically Speaking, one project I worked with was for GeoBezdan, who supplies mostly railing based building supplies both B2B and B2C.  The entire public and B2B site were architected and development managed by myself.

This project was originally a development of an ecommerce project first in an old SAAS tool (called 3DCart) , and then later changed to a more professional advanced system managed within Magento itself.

During the migration into Magento, there was a massive data project undertaken, as the client did not have good quality data in electronic form, but had amazing print product catalogs that contained large amounts of product specifications.  Part of the project work included helping the client create a digital version of the product information and attributes from their print catalogs into the PIM and eventually Magento.

This client was a long-term client of Graphically Speaking over multiple projects and support years.

This site is a good example of a common B2C/B2B project that includes most features you would expect from a mid-sized organization.

Examples of features include:

  • Canada & USA based stores, with different products & pricing
  • B2C based shopping
  • B2B based shopping with standard B2B features such as different pricing levels, access to extended products, special payment and order flows, requisition lists and more
  • Integrations & Workflows, for helping manage orders, pricing, stock availability and related
  • Advanced Brand management
  • Resources, Education & Documentation areas
  • Advanced design and marketing landing pages
  • SEO focus

This site also has a higher level of design than many other B2B based clients (especially the Canadian site), as their products are highly design focused and they wish to give a premium quality feel in their digital space.

Services Provided

  • BA/SA:  All standard business analyst-related skills were utilized throughout the few years I worked with this client.  Helping design the applications from the ground up, integrations, gather requirements, wireframe development of all interfaces, UI/UX design, and more were done across the entire project base.  Every interface in the system was designed by me.
  • Advanced Data Support:   This client had a very large product catalog with extended data specifications.  While they had amazing print catalogs, at the start of the project they had very little data in electronic form, and I helped with creation of large quantities of data taken from print catalogs and enhanced into the PIM.
  • QA/Testing & Related:  As such all topics related to QA were of high importance for these projects.  I helped create test plans, deployment planning, process planning, workflows for delivery and related services.
  • PM:  I was both a primary and secondary PM during various phases of the project, from initial sales standpoints through full development and delivery.  All standard PM-based responsibilities were provided, such as billing, reports, meetings, task assignments, scheduling, QA/Testing, budgeting, quoting and all related services.  As a large overall project, this client required every standard PM-related support service over the few years I worked with them.
  • Dev PM:  All standard development PM related responsibilities, such as scheduling development, working with the programmers, handling sprints, communicating requirements and more were handled by me throughout the entire project cycles.
